Preparation of clay-chitosan hybrid beads for the adsorption of methylene blue and reactive black 5 dyes

Preparation of clay-chitosan hybrid beads for the adsorption of methylene blue and reactive black 5 dyes / Soon Kah Aik
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Clay and chitosan (CTS) have been used to provide clay / chitosan hybrids (CCHBs) that can be used in the process of treating wastewater. The initial adsorption of Methelyne Blue (MB) and Reactive Black (RB5) were tested in groups using the provided adsorbent. Group adsorption shows the optimum ratio of chitosan / clay to 60, 40, where the highest removal percentage for MB and RB5. Brunaur Emmatt Teller analysis, scanning electron chemistry. X-ray energy dispersion and Fourier transformer infra-red spectroscopy have been carried out on the adsorbers. The operating parameters studied include initial concentration (25 - 400mg / L). suju (30 - 50 °C) and pH (3 - 10). Langmuir and Freundlich's lateral model models are used to obtain the isothermal parameters and it is found that Langmuir's sole line model is most suitable for data experiments. Based on the coefficient of correlation (R2) and the divergence of the mean square root, the second-pseudo-order kinetic model describes the adsorption process better than the first-order kinetic pseudi model for MB and RB5 dyes. Increased adsorption temperature of the dye from 30 to 50 °C has increased the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent and the adsorption process can be said as endomic. The adsorption process is also observed depending on the pH value, and the optimum pH for adsorption of MB and RB5 on CCHB is between pH 7 and pH 9. The results of this study show that CCHB is a good adsorbent in the treatment of basic and reactive dyes in effluent waste water.
