Tesis ini membentangkan simulasi aliran hypersonic ke atas silinder dua dimensi. Tesis ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji sifat-sifat aerodinamik hypersonic dan pengetahuan asas dalam reka bentuk kapal terbang hypersonic. Dalam kajian ini, perisian Gambit dan Fluent digunakan dengan banyak untuk membuat simulasi terhadap sifat-sifat hypersonik. Gambit digunakan untuk menghasilkan bentuk dengan bilangan „mesh‟ yang diidamkan yang seterusnya akan digunakan dalam Fluent untuk menjalankan simulasi pada bentuk yang dijanakan.

This thesis presents the study on the characteristics of hypersonic aerodynamics in two-dimensional objects. The objective of this research is to study the hypersonic aerodynamic characteristics and the fundamental knowledge of designing the shape of hypersonic aircraft-the waverider. In this research, both Gambit and Fluent software were used for meshing and analysis purposes. Gambit was used to produce reasonable value of mesh sizes for the analysis in Fluent. Meanwhile, Fluent was used to analyze the shock wave experienced by the object at hypersonic mach number and the boundary layer interactions. The effects of mesh sizes and the analysis results were observed and compared with theoretical understandings. All these meshes were being analyze to be within the acceptable range of aspect ratio, skewness value.
