Ozon (O3) merupakan pencemar sekunder yang membawa keburukan kepada manusia, haiwan, tumbuh-tumbuhan dan bahan binaan. Kajian ini hanya mengfokuskan kepada kepekatan ozon semasa peristiwa zarah tinggi. Tujuan kajian ini ialah untuk menentukan ciri-ciri dan perilaku transformasi ozon daripada NOx semasa peristiwa zarah tinggi serta menghasilkan peta kepekatan O3 dan PM10. Kajian ini menggunakan data pemantauan purata setiap jam bagi tahun 2013 untuk 14 stesen pemantauan terpilih di Malaysia. Empat kaedah utama untuk menganalisis perilaku O3 semasa peristiwa zarah tinggi iaitu plot kotak dan „whisker‟, plot siri masa, pemetaan dan plot diurnal komposit telah digunakan. Keputusan dari analisis menunjukkan kepekatan O3 yang agak tinggi di stesen-stesen yang terletak di kawasan bandar dan perindustrian kecuali Klang (bandar), Larkin Lama (industri) dan Nilai (industri) dengan kepekatan tertinggi dicatatkan di Kota Tinggi dengan 155 ppb diikuti oleh Shah Alam dengan 141 ppb. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa kepekatan O3 di 10 daripada 14 kawasan kajian melebihi nilai MAAQG yang disyorkan iaitu 100 ppb sepanjang tempoh kajian Masa di mana titik penukaran kritikal (CCP) berlaku ditentukan daripada plot diurnal komposit sebagai titik pemintasan antara garis O3 dan NO2 yang mana di semua stesen diukur antara 11 pagi hingga 12 tengah hari kecuali beberapa stesen. CCP ini akan membantu pihak berkuasa tempatan untuk mengambil tindakan yang wajar bagi mengurangkan pencemaran O3 dalam udara. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ozone (O3) is a secondary pollutant which may bring harmful effect to human, animal, crops and building material. This research focused on O3 concentration during high particulate events. The aims of this study are to determine the characteristic and transformational behaviour of ground level ozone from NOx during high particulate events as well as producing map of O3 and PM10 concentrations. This study used hourly average monitoring records of 2013 for 14 selected monitoring stations in Malaysia. Four main methods to analyse the O3 behaviour during high particulate events i.e. box and whisker plot, time series plot, mapping and composite diurnal plot were used. Results from the analysis showed that a relatively high O3 concentration at stations located in urban and industrial areas except for Klang (urban), Larkin Lama (industrial) and Nilai (industrial) with the highest concentration was recorded in Kota Tinggi with 155 ppb followed by Shah Alam with 141 ppb. The results showed that O3 concentrations in 10 out of 14 study area surpasses the recommended MAAQG value of 100 ppb throughout the study period. The time where critical conversion point (CCP) occurs was determined from the composite diurnal plots as the interception point between O3 and NO2 line by which in all stations measured at between 11 a.m. to 12 p.m except for several stations. The CCP may help local authority to take proper action to control O3 pollution in ambient air.
