Nano-teknologi telah dibangunkan dalam banyak sektor pada masa kini kerana peningkatan atas aplikasi konvensional. Salah satu aplikasi teknologi nano adalah sistem penebatan yang lebih baik dalam peralatan voltan tinggi. Projek ini tertumpu kepada mengkaji kekuatan dielektrik bahan nano-komposit terhadap penambahan nano pengisi Al2O3, TiO2 BN, dan Cloisite®15A. Empat jenis nano pengisi yang berbeza ditambah ke dalam polimer bahan komposit SiR/EPDM untuk melihat kesan penambahan nano pengisi-sifat dielektrik bahan nano-komposit. Dalam projek ini, kekuatan dielektrik bahan nano komposit dikaji. Kesan komposit SiR/EPDM dengan dan tanpa nano pengisi juga telah disiasat dan dibandingkan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahawa penambahan Al2O3 nano pengisi ke dalam komposit SiR/EPDM telah meningkatkan kekuatan dielektrik sebanyak 24% daripada yang komposit SiR/EPDM sahaja. Kekuatan dielektrik SiR/EPDM komposit juga meningkat sebanyak 12.75% dengan penambahan nano pengisi TiO2. Selain itu, penambahan nano pengisi BN dan Cloisite®15A di dalam komposit SiR/EPDM mengurangkan kekuatan dielektrik sebanyak 1.52% dan 8.05% daripada SiR/EPDM yang tidak dipenuhi. Kesimpulannya, penambahan nano pengisi Al2O3 ke dalam komposit SiR/EPDM dapat meningkatkan sifat-sifat dielektrik polimer nano-komposit. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Nano-technology has been well-developed in many sectors nowadays because of its improvement on conventional application. One of the applications of nano technology is enhanced insulation system in high voltage equipment. This project focused on studying the effect of addition of Al2 O3, TiO2, BN and Cloisite®15A nano-fillers on dielectric strength of nano-composite material. Four different types of nano-filler are added into SiR/EPDM polymer composite material to observe the effect of addition of nano-filler on dielectric properties of nano-composite material. In this project, dielectric strength of the nano-composite material is studied. The effect of SiR/EPDM polymer composite material with and without nano-filler also have been investigated and compared. The result shows the addition of Al2O3 nano-filler into SiR/EPDM composite had increased the dielectric strength by 24% from the unfilled one. The dielectric strength of SiR/EPDM composite also increases by 12.75% with TiO2 nano-filler loading. The addition of BN and Cloisite®15A nano-filler in SiR/EPDM composite has decrease the dielectric strength by 1.52% and 8.05% than the unfilled one. It can be concluded that adding the Al2O3 nano-filler into SiR/EPDM composite contribute enhance the dielectric properties of polymer nano-composite.
