L-cysteine functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes sensor for lead detection_Oh Chun Keat_K4_2011_875003838_NI
L-Cysteine Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes Based Sensor for Lead Detection ___________________________________________________________________________________ An anodic stripping voltammetry is carried out for the determination of lead (II) ion by using L-Cysteine functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes as the sensor. LCysteine is an amino acid with high affinities towards some heavy metals. In the experiment, the lead ion is firstly accumulated on the surface of the L-Cysteine functionalized carbon nanotubes sensor. After that, a differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry is carried out. The resulting peak currents were linearly related to the concentrations of the lead ions. The optimum reduction time, accumulation time and reduction potential are 5 minutes, 10 minutes and -1.0V respectively. A calibration is done based on different peak height that is generated by the concentration of the lead (II) ion. The stability of the sensor is also studied and found out that the peak height is reduced by 8% in three weeks.
