BS EN 60721-3-4 is a standard that covers environmental parameters and severities for non-weatherprotected locations, enabling the design and development of equipment for stable operability in non-weatherprotected locations. BS EN 60721-3-4 classifies groups of environmental parameters and their severities to which products are subjected when mounted for stationary use at locations that are non-weatherprotected, including periods of erection work, downtime, maintenance and repair. The environmental conditions specified in BS EN 60721-3-4 are limited to those which may directly affect the performance of products. Only environmental conditions as such are considered. BS EN 60721-3-4 provides a number of classes of environmental conditions, covering a broad field of application. The user of BS EN 60721-3-4 should select the lowest classification necessary for covering the conditions of the intended use. Note 1: Environmental conditions directly related to fire or explosion hazards and conditions related to ionizing radiation are excluded. Any other unforeseen incidents are also excluded. The possibility of their occurrence should be taken into account in special cases. Note 2: Microclimate within a product is not included. Who is BS EN 60721-3-4 - Environmental parameters and severities for non-weatherprotected locations for? BS EN 60721-3-4 on environmental parameters and severities for non-weatherprotected locations applies to: Environmental testing agencies Simulation testing services Quality assurance services Testing personnel and auditors Maritime testing services Freight and maritime services Why should you use BS EN 60721-3-4 - Environmental parameters and severities for non-weatherprotected locations? Environmental testing is the process of determining how well equipment performs in specific environments, such as excessively hot or cold temperatures. Environmental testing replicates the various environmental conditions and mechanical stresses that a product may face over its lifetime. Additionally, it aids in the simulation of the product's lifespan surroundings. BS EN 60721-3-4 provides users guidance on the classification of groups of environmental parameters and their severities, including climatic conditions, special climatic conditions, biological conditions, and mechanical conditions, enabling the determination of the impact of these conditions on the equipment. BS EN 60721-3-4 provides users guidance on sets of environmental condition class combinations for temperature, humidity, rain, heat and solar radiation, air pressure, condensation, ice and frost and more, enabling you to choose the class for use case consideration and testing environment. With obedience and compliance to BS EN 60721-3-4, users can develop and design equipment and products for stationary use at non-weatherprotected locations, ensuring durability, operability and longevity in those environmental conditions.
