environmental conditions according to their severity for non-stationary use, such as portable or mobile equipment. This standard is part of the BS EN 60721 series, which provides a system for classifying environmental conditions for electrical and electronic equipment. BS EN 60721-3-7:1996 specifies a classification of environmental conditions based on parameters such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, and altitude. The standard defines different classes of severity for each parameter, ranging from mild to extreme. The standard also provides guidance on the design and testing of equipment to ensure that it can operate safely and reliably under these environmental conditions. Some of the classes of severity defined by BS EN 60721-3-7:1996 include: Temperature: Class 1 to Class 3, with Class 1 being the mildest and Class 3 being the most severe. Humidity: Class 1 to Class 3, with Class 1 being the mildest and Class 3 being the most severe. Air pressure: Class 1 to Class 3, with Class 1 being the mildest and Class 3 being the most severe. Altitude: Class 1 to Class 3, with Class 1 being the mildest and Class 3 being the most severe. The standard also includes guidance on the effects of environmental conditions on equipment, and on the design and testing of equipment to ensure that it can withstand the specified environmental conditions. BS EN 60721-3-7:1996 is useful for manufacturers and users of portable or mobile equipment, as well as for designers and testers of electronic and electrical equipment.
