BS EN 10212:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the technical delivery conditions for welded stainless steel pipes for general purposes. This standard covers pipes made from austenitic, ferritic and martensitic stainless steels, and is applicable to pipes with a diameter of up to and including 406.4 mm and with a wall thickness of up to and including 16 mm.
The standard specifies requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, tolerances, surface conditions, testing and marking of the pipes. It also includes annexes providing information on non-destructive testing and on the use of stainless steel in contact with water intended for human consumption.
BS EN 10212:1996 was superseded by the European Standard EN 10212:2005, which is essentially identical, but with some minor editorial changes.
