Peralatan rumah sangat penting dan ia digunakan dalam kehidupan seharian untuk membantu dan memberi keselesaan kepada pengguna. Sistem rumah pintar kos rendah dicipta seiring dengan perkembangan Internet Untuk Segala-galanya (IoT). Bagi merealisasikan sistem rumah pintar kos rendah, peralatan yang sedia ada yang menggunakan alat kawalan jauh inframerah (IR) dinaiktaraf dengan menggunakan rangkaian kawasan tempatan tanpa wayar (WLAN) melalui telefon pintar. Sistem ini menjadikan kehidupan lebih mudah supaya pengguna boleh mengawal peralatan rumah dari jauh. Matlamat projek ini adalah mengawal peralatan rumah yang menggunakan alat kawalan jauh melalui aplikasi telefon pintar. Bagi mencapai matlamat tersebut, salah satu kaedah yang boleh digunakan adalah melalui pengawal. Seterusnya, terdapat tiga perkara yang perlu dicipta iaitu aplikasi telefon pintar, modul pengawal utama dan modul pengekod. Aplikasi telefon pintar dicipta berasaskan sistem operasi Android manakala kedua-dua modul dicipta menggunakan pengawalmikro Arduino. Kesemua aplikasi telefon pintar dan modul adalah mesra pengguna di mana ia membolehkan pengguna menggunakan sistem rumah pintar tanpa sebarang pengetahuan teknikal. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Home appliances are very important and they are used in our everyday life to assist and make our life more comfortable. Low cost smart home system is developed in prevalence to the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT). In order to realize low cost smart home system controller, the existing appliances that are using infrared (IR) remote control is upgraded by using Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) through smart phone. This system makes life easier so that the user can control the appliances from far. The goal of this project is to be able to control home appliances remotely through smart phone application. To achieve the goal, one of the methods that can be used is through a controller. There are three items that need to be developed which are the smart phone application, main controller module and decoder module. The smart phone application is based on the Android operating system (OS) and both of the modules are developed using Arduino microcontroller. Those smart phone application and modules are user friendly hardware interfaces that enable the end user to use the smart home system without any technical knowledge.
