Keratan C-purlin terbentuk sejuk telah digunakan secara meluas dalam bidang aplikasi pembinaan. Senario ini berlaku disebabkan beratnya yang ringan, kos efektif dan nisbah kekuatan kepada berat yang tinggi. Dalam usaha untuk meringankan berat rasuk keluli, bukaan pada web rasuk telah diperkenalkan dalam industri pembinaan. Dalam kajian ini, kesan bukaan pada keratan C-purlin terbentuk sejuk telah dianalisis. Keputusan dibandingkan dengan keratan C-purlin tanpa bukaan. Keputusan analisis ditunjukkan daripada segi anjakan dan momen alah. Dari analisis didapati bahawa keratan keluli C-purlin tanpa bukaan menunjukkan kekuatan lenturan yang lebih tinggi berbanding dengan keratan keluli C-purlin dengan bukaan pada paksi utama. Perbezaan kekuatan lenturan antara keratan tanpa bukaan dan keratan dengan bukaan tidak ketara, iaitu hanya sebanyak 2.041%. Sebanyak 63 set analisis tidak linear telah dijalankan untuk menyelidik kesan dari segi jarak bukaan dan jarak tepi, bentuk dan saiz bukaan, ketebalan keratan dan akhir sekali, ketinggian web keratan pada tingkah laku lenturan. Hasil kajian parametrik menunjukkan kekuatan lenturan menjadi semakin besar jikalau jarak bukaan ditambah. Manakala, kekuatan lenturan dikurangkan apabila meningkatkan saiz bukaan. Secara umumnya, bukaan berbentuk pepenjuru menunjukkan kekuatan lenturan yang tinggi berbanding bentuk bulat, bentuk segi empat dan bentuk heksagon. Dari kajian ini, didapati untuk bukaan berbentuk segi empat yang bersaiz 0.4D, di mana D ialah ketinggian keratan, menunjukkan kekuatan lenturan yang paling tinggi jika berbanding dengan bukaan berbentuk pepenjuru. Akhirnya, keratan keluli C-purlin menunjukkan lenturan yang kuat dengan keratan yang lebih tebal dan lebih tinggi. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ C-channel cold-formed steel purlin is widely used in construction industry due to its light weight, cost-effectiveness and high strength-to-weight ratio. In order to reduce the weight of steel beams, web profile with openings has been introduced in the construction industry. In this study, effect of perforation in the C-channel cold-formed steel purlin section under bending is investigated. The result was then compared with the C-channel steel section without opening. The results are expressed in terms of displacement and yield moment. From the analysis, it was observed that C-channel steel section without opening had higher bending capacity than C-channel steel section with opening in major axis. The difference of the yield moment between C-channel steel section with opening and without opening was only 2.041%. A total of 63 set of nonlinear analyses were carried out to investigate the effects of opening spacing and edge distance, shapes and size of opening, thickness of section and depth of web on bending behaviour. The result showed that increasing the opening spacing would increase the bending capacity. The bending capacity decreased when the opening size increased. In overall, diagonal opening showed the highest bending capacity among circular, square and hexagonal openings. However, this study showed that square opening with 0.4D size, where D is the depth of section, showed the highest yield moment when compared to other opening shapes. C-channel steel section showed better moment resistance in thicker and deeper section.
