Plotting the upper boundary of permeabilityselectivity tradeoff relations in different types ofmembranesin the separation of H2CO2gas pair / Lim Jia Qi
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The separation of gases using membranes has emerged into a commercially popular utilized unit operation and this technology has received attention from many researchers around the globe, primarily due to its lower carbon footprint, economical value and compactness. In this paper, a survey and subsequent analysis on the literature data on H2 and CO2 permeation through different types of membranes, namely polymeric membranes, inorganic membranes, and mixed matrix membranes (MMM). Membranes that lies close to or beyond the empirical bound for the log-log plot of H2/CO2 selectivity vs H2 permeability deserves the further research so as to improve the reproducibility and physical and chemical properties at elevated temperature so as the technology can be applied in industrial syngas treatment or hydrogen purification units in the nearest future.
