BS ISO 4902:1989 is a British Standard and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard titled "Information technology - Data communication - 37-pole DTE/DCE interface connector and contact number assignments." Similar to BS ISO 4903:1989, which specifies the 15-pole DTE/DCE interface connector, this standard focuses on the physical interface for data communication between data terminal equipment (DTE) and data circuit-terminating equipment (DCE). However, in this case, the interface utilizes a 37-pole connector instead of a 15-pole connector. Just like its counterpart, this standard defines the pin assignments and functions for each contact in the 37-pole connector. The interface between DTE and DCE is crucial for establishing communication links in data communication networks. Standardization ensures compatibility and interoperability across different equipment from various manufacturers. By adhering to BS ISO 4902:1989, organizations can ensure that their equipment can connect and communicate effectively with other compliant devices in data communication networks that utilize the 37-pole interface connector.
