This International Standard specifies a gravimetric method for the determination of the total silicon con- tent in steel and iron. The method is applicable to silicon contents between 0,10 % (m/m) and 5,0 % (m/m) (see note 1). For samples containing molybdenum, niobium, NOTE 1 tantalum, titanium, tungsten, zirconium or high levels of chromium, the results are less precise than for unalloyed steels (see annex A).
