Persimpangan menghubungkan laluan kenderaan yang berbeza. Ia memerlukan kawalan lalu lintas bagi meminimumkan konflik lalu lintas yang disebabkan oleh pergerakan kenderaan. Persimpangan tanpa kawalan lampu isyarat berfungsi untuk mengawal aliran trafik berkapasiti rendah. Ia terdiri daripada kawalan berhenti dua arah (TWSC) dan kawalan berhenti semua arah (AWSC). Persimpangan tanpa lampu isyarat dapat dianalisis dengan pelbagai kaedah. Kaedah penerimaan sela merupakan pendekatan lazim untuk menilai prestasi sesebuah persimpangan. Penilaian ini bergantung pada tanggapan pemandu ketika memilih sela. Ketidakpatuhan terhadap hak lalu, dan keadaan trafik yang bercampur-aduk telah menyumbang kepada pembangunan kaedah konflik. Pendekatan ini adalah berdasarkan pada masa pendudukan kenderaan dalam ruang konflik di persimpangan. Dalam kajian ini, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kamera pengawasan. Masa pendudukan kenderaan digunakan untuk menghitung kapasiti aliran kenderaan. ___________________________________________________________________________________ An intersection provides link between different vehicle movements. It requires traffic control to minimize the traffic conflicts that are caused by these vehicle movements. The unsignalized intersection is implemented to regulate low volume of traffic flow. It consists of two-way stop-controlled (TWSC) and all-way stop-controlled (AWSC). There are various methods to analyze the unsignalized intersection. The gapacceptance method is the common approach to assess the performance of the intersection. This evaluation depends on the drivers’ perception during gap selection. Among the drawbacks of the gap-acceptance method are the non-compliance to the right of way, and the heterogeneous traffic condition. It has led to the development of the conflict method. This approach is based on the occupation time of vehicles at conflict areas in the intersection. In this study, data collection is conducted with the assistance of surveillance camera. The occupation time of vehicle is used to calculate the movement capacity. The capacity of each vehicle movement is determined according to conflict groups. The control delay and level of service of the vehicle movements is then evaluated according to the procedures in HCM 2000. Result comparison is made between the conflict method and the HCM 2000 approach. The relationship between the occupation time and critical gap is discovered. The results of the conflict method are found to be comparable with the HCM 2000 using field data.
