Adequacy assessment of generating system incorporating demand response and wind power integration

Adequacy assessment of generating system incorporating demand response and wind power integration / Andi Farah Adila Arif
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This research project shines a light on the generating system incorporating demand response and wind power integration where its adequacy assessment is being evaluated. This is achieved by modifying IEEE Reliability Test System (IEEE-RTS) by incorporating wind power and demand response as test system. Load model for all busses and generation capacity for every hour in a year of the modified IEEE-RTS is simulated using sequential Monte Carlo simulation and system Expected Energy Not Served (EENS) is computed as the reliability index. The demand response program is achieved by performing the load shifting technique which is the combination of peak clipping and valley clipping technique at various percentage of the peak load. The reliability impact of wind penetration level on the generating system are also being taken into account upon evaluating their impact on the adequacy of the generating system. Applying load shifting to the load busses yield some positive improvements to system reliability. However, the integration of wind power will cause instability to the generating system.
