Universiti Sains Malaysia sedang membangunkan sebuah satelit kiub bersaiz 1U yang dipanggil MYSat. Satelit ini dibina oleh sekumpulan mahasiswa universiti dengan bimbingan dan bantuan pengajaran daripada pensyarah dan mahasiswa kedoktoran. Satelit ini dibina untuk mengkaji ketumpatan elektron di ionosfera untuk pengurusan bencana. dan membina keupayaan universiti dalam membangunkan satelit nano pada masa yang sama. Sistem kawalan tingkah laku pasif ialah kawalan mampu dicapai untuk memberikan kestabilan untuk MYSat di orbit rendah bumi. Sistem kawalan tingkah laku magnet pasif ini dilaksanakan menggunakan magnet teras kekal melalui interaksi dengan medan magnet bumi. Konsep ini boleh dicapai sama ada sebagai magnet teras kekal sahaja atau digandingkan dengan peranti nyah-dorongan lain seperti peredam histeresis. Tujuan kajian ini ialah untuk membangunkan satu sistem kawalan tingkah laku magnet pasif bagi MYSat. Penacapaian kilasan yang dihasilkan dan tingkah laku pada golek, baling dan goleng oleh Alnico 5 dan Alnico 8 bagi magnet manakala Permenorm 5000H2 dan HyMu-80 bagi peredam histeresis telah dijalankan. Satu magnet teras kekal daripada bahan Alnico 5 dan dua peredam histeresis daripada bahan HyMu-80 telah dipilih sebagai rekabentuk awal sistem kawalan tingkah laku MYSat. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is developing a 1U Cubesat called MYSat. This satellite is built by a group of university students with guidance and teaching supports from professors and PhD students. This satellite is made to study the electron density in the ionosphere for disaster management and to develop the university competency in developing a nanosatellite at the same time. The passive attitude control system (ACS) is an achievable control to provide stabilization for MYSat in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The passive magnetic ACS system is conducted by using the permanent magnet through its interaction with the magnetic field of the Earth. This concept can be achieved either as a permanent magnet alone or coupled with other momentum dumping devices such as the hysteresis damper. This thesis aims to establish a passive magnetic ACS for MYSat. Performance of torque generated and attitude behaviour at roll, pitch and yaw between Alnico 5 and Alnico 8 for magnet, while Permenorm 5000H2 and HyMu-80 for hysteresis damper was conducted. One Permanent Magnet from Alnico 5 material and two hysteresis damper from HyMu-80 material is selected for preliminary MYSat ACS design.
