Projek ini adalah untuk kajian tentang penilaian terhadap kerosakan pada binaan konkrit dengan menggunakan Acoustic Emission(AE). Objektif projek ini adalah untuk mengkaji keupayaan AE dalam pemantauan kesihatan binaan dan memantau kehadiran retakan serta mengesan lokasi retakan pada struktur dengan menggunakan sistem AE. Dalam projek ini, kes kajian di lakukan di Makmal Konkrit, Pusat pengajian Kejuruteraan Awam, Universiti Sains Malaysia untuk mengesan retakan yang aktif terhadap rasuk yang berhampiran dengan pintu masuk makmal. Mikro-SAMOS Digital AE Sistem dan sensor R6I digunakan untuk mengumpul AE data dan perisisan AEwin digunakan untuk menganalisis data yang diperoleh. Pengamatan visual juga dijalankan dengan tujuan untuk membanding keputusan yang diambil oleh sistem AE. Keputusan kajian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahawa teknik AE mempunyai ketepatan yang baik untuk mengenal pasti lokasi dan keadaan retakan. Berdasarkan ujian ini, didapati bahawa terdapat kehadiran retakan pada rasuk tetapi retakan ini tidak berbahaya terhadap struktur binaan makmal kerana tenaga mutlak yang diperoleh tidak terlalu tinggi. Kesimpulan keseluruhannya mendapati binaan struktuk makmal masih selamat untuk digunakan . ___________________________________________________________________________________ This project is to study the structural damage assessment by using Acoustic Emission (AE) for concrete structure. The objective is to investigate the AE technique for use in structural health monitoring and to monitor the cracking which has developed on the structure by using AE and to identify the location of the active crack. The case study is carried out at the Concrete Laboratory, School of Civil Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia which is focuses on the detection of active crack at the beam near the entrance of the concrete laboratory. Micro-SAMOS (µ-SAMOS) Digital AE system and R6I sensor were used to collect the AE data and AEwin Software was used to analyze the data that had been collected. Visual observation was also carried out in order to compare with the AE results. The result show that AE technique has a promising accuracy in located the position of cracks. This test also found out that there have some cracks existed at the beam surface but it does not dangerous for the structure because the absolute energy is not too high. So it can make the conclusion that the structure is still safe to be used.
