Eirhhornia crassipes as a source of activated carbon for the adsorption of heavy metals ions

Eirhhornia crassipes as a source of activated carbon for the adsorption of heavy metals ions / Mohamed Fadhil Mohamed Vaisul
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Heavy metals are one of the most critical source of pollution of natural aquatic ecosystems. The purpose of this study was to achieve the removal of heavy metals (Cu2+, Fe2+ and Zn2+). Experiments were conducted on activated carbon (AC) Eichhornia crassipes (E. crassipes) using conventional heating methods. E crassipes are compared from the efficiency of the disinfectant. The adsorption of heavy solution metals (Cu2+, Fe2+ and Zn2+) to activated E. crassipes has been studied in the group process. E. crassipes undergo a physical activation process involving the determination of heavy nitrogrn (10-50 mg / L), touch time (0-24 hours), solution temperature (30-70 ° C) and adsorption dose (0.1g - 0.3g) assessed. The highest adsorption was cast by copper, 25.7 mg / g at 70 ° C. The balance data obtained for all the best heavy metal solutions is adjusted by the Langmuir medallion. Meanwhile, kinetic data is best represented by the second pseudo model for heavy metals.
