Rekabentuk kapal terbang tentang konsep ialah satu proses yang rumit serta memerlukan permahaman daripada banyak bidang lain. Tiga bidang utama dalam kapal terbang rekabentuk ialah perlaksanaan kuasa pendorongan, aerodinamik, dan struktur analisis. Di antara mereka, perlaksanaan kuasa pendorongan memainkan peranan yang sangat penting dalam menentukan jumlah kuasa untuk menerbangkan sebuah kapal terbang. Pendorongan sistem dalam sebuah kapal terbang juga akan menentukan keseluruhan tatarajah dan sebilangan parameter penting untuk kapal terbang. Berat akan selalu menjadi satu isu kepada kapal terbang kerana setiap kapal terbang perlu menentang berat untuk terbang. Biasanya had berat akan di tentukan pada keperluan rekabentuk. Jangkaan tentang berat berlepas kapal terbang mestilah dilakukan dengan teliti supaya tiada berlebihan berat diambilkira. Peralatan di atas kapal terbang adalah berbeza bagi berlainan kategori kapal terbang tetapi sebilangan peralatan adalah wajib bagi memastikan penerbangan yang selamat. Dalam apapun bentuk projek rekabentuk, kos adalah faktor terakhir yang akan membuat keputusan. Maka setiap keputusan yang dibuat dalam kapal terbang rekabentuk proses adalah berkaitan kepada jumlah kos. Akhirnya, jangkaan tentang masa pembangunan kapal terbang adalah diperlukan untuk memberi maklumat tentang berapa lama projek itu dapat dihabiskan. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Aircraft conceptual design process is complicated yet required understanding of many other disciplines. Three main disciplines of aircraft design would be the propulsion performance, aerodynamics, and structural analysis. Amongst them, propulsion performance plays a very important role in deciding the total power to fly an aircraft. The propulsion system of an aircraft will also determine the overall configuration as well as some other important parameters of an aircraft. Weight will always be an issue for aircraft since every aircraft needs to defy weight to lift up. Normally there will be a defined weight limit in the design requirements. Aircraft takeoff weight estimation should be carried out in detail to ensure no extra weight is included. The aircraft onboard equipments are optional for different type of aircraft category but some essential equipment is compulsory to ensure a safety flight. In any kind of design project, cost will be the ultimate decision making factor. Therefore each single decision made in aircraft design process is relating to the total aircraft costs. At the end of the design process, prediction about the development time of the aircraft is necessary to have a clue on how long the project can be finished.
