Abstract BS EN 60730-2-5:1995 is a European standard that specifies requirements for the performance, construction, and testing of thermal motor protectors. Thermal motor protectors are devices designed to protect motors from overheating by disconnecting the power supply if the motor temperature rises above a certain level. The standard sets out specific requirements for the performance, construction, and testing of thermal motor protectors, including requirements for their thermal response, electrical insulation, and mechanical strength. The standard also specifies requirements for the marking and documentation of thermal motor protectors, to ensure that they can be correctly identified and used in a safe and effective manner. BS EN 60730-2-5:1995 is intended to ensure that thermal motor protectors are safe, reliable, and effective in protecting motors from overheating. It is worth noting that this standard has been revised and updated several times since its initial publication in 1995, with the latest version being BS EN 60730-2-5:2018. The newer versions of the standard include updated requirements for the performance and testing of thermal motor protectors, reflecting advances in technology and changes in consumer expectations.
