Tasik Harapan merupakan sebuah tasik rekreasi buatan yang terletak bersebelahan Desasiswa Harapan dan Pusat Islam Universiti Sains Malaysia dengan keluasan 3156 m2. Memandangkan keadaan tasik yang tercemar dan kualiti air tasik yang kurang memuaskan serta sering berlaku limpahan apabila hujan lebat, satu kaedah untuk memulihkan kembali keadaan asal air tasik dijalankan dengan menggunakan alat pengudaraan Bio Reco. Berikutan itu, satu kajian telah dijalankan ke atas enap cemar dan mikrobiologi air di Tasik Harapan. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan ciri-ciri fizikal serta kimia enap cemar seperti kandungan lembapan, graviti tentu, ketumpatan pukal dan kandungan logamnya serta mengkaji parameter mikrobiologi air. Di samping itu, kajian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengkaji keberkesanan kaedah yang dilaksanakan dan menilai tahap pencemaran air di Tasik Harapan. Secara umumnya, keputusan kajian menunjukkan purata kandungan lembapan enap cemar ialah 214.21%, purata graviti tentu ialah 2.02 dan purata ketumpatan pukalnya ialah 1.19 g/cm3. Purata ketebalan lapisan enap cemar pula ialah 0.27 m. Kepekatan logam ferum di dalam enap cemar menunjukkan purata yang tertinggi diikuti zink dan kromium menunjukkan purata kepekatan yang paling rendah. Dari segi mikrobiologi air, didapati terdapat kehadiran koloni bakteria dan ini menjadi petunjuk kepada paras pencemaran air tasik. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tasik Harapan is a recreational lake which is situated between Desasiswa Harapan and Pusat Islam Universiti Sains Malaysia, and has an approximately area of 3156 m2. Because of polluted lake condition and extremely low water quality, with overflow phenomenon from the lake when heavy rain, a method has been carried out to retreat the water quality by using Bio Reco aerator. Further, a study on sludge and water microbiology has been done at Tasik Harapan. The objectives of this study are to identify the physical and chemical characteristic of sludge such as moisture content, specific gravity, bulk density and metal content and also to identify the parameter of water microbiology. Besides, this study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness of the method carried out and water pollution of Tasik Harapan. Generally, the results from this study indicate that average moisture content of sludge is 214.21%, the average of specific gravity is 2.02 and the bulk density is 1.19 g/cm3. The average of sludge thickness is 0.27 m. The concentration of ferum in sludge gives the highest value following by zinc and the lowest metal concentration is chromium. From microbiology aspect, an existence of bacteria in water indicates the pollution level in lake water.
