A LOW COST CAPACITIVE PATTERN RECOGNITION SYSTEM_LEE BEE KOON_E3_2007_875002280_NI
A low cost and reliable capacitive system, which is used for pattern recognition purpose, is designed. This system is designed using a simple op-amp integrator and a low pass filter which act as the signal processing circuit, an ADC, and a 8051 microcontroller. The concept behind this project is based on different patterns having different areas, and capacitance is directly proportional to an area variation. The essence of the proposed capacitive card system is to have a system capable to measure the capacitance of the card’s pattern, and converts the capacitance value into voltage value. The pattern may then be recognized with the help of a microcontroller, where the comparison will be made based on the measured value and the expected value stored in the memory of microcontroller. The system designed is capable to recognize up to two data rows, with 6 patterns in each row with 6 patterns in each row.
