Hampir 90% daripada komposisi asfalt berliang terdiri daripada aggregat dan 65% daripada agregat yang digunakan merupakan agregat kasar. Agregat ini berfungsi membentuk satu struktur rangka turapan asfalt berliang. Oleh itu, sifat mekanikal aggregat mempunyai pengaruh yang tinggi terhadap prestasi asfalt berliang. Dalam kajian ini, lima kombinasi agregat yang berbeza nisbah campuran yang terdiri daripada agregat berbentuk kubik dan agregat berbentuk biasa diperkenalkan dan dinamakan sebagai M0, M25, M50, M75 dan M100. Kandungan bitumen bagi setiap kombinasi agregat yang dicadangkan ditentukan melalui ujian Cantabro and ujian pengikat saliran. Ujian makmal termaju turut dijalankan untuk menentukan sifat asfalt berliang seperti lompang udara, pekali kebolehtelapan, kehilangan lelasan, kekuatan tegangan tidak langsung, modulus kebingkasan dan rintangan kepada ubah bentuk kekal. Keputusan ujian menunjukkan campuran agregat M100 yang terdiri daripada 100% agregat berbentuk kubik menghasilkan pretasi campuran yang terbaik dalam semua sifat asfalt yang diuji. Keputusan analisis statistik seperti satu hala ANOVA dan ujian Post Hoc Duncan menunjukkan pengenalan agregat berbentuk kubik memberi kesan yang ketara ke atas sifat asfalt berliang seperti lompang udara, pekali kebolehtelapan, kehilangan lelasan dan rintangan kepada ubah bentuk kekal sampel. Namum demikian, keputusan ujian menunjukkan penggunaan agregat berbentuk kubik tidak mempunyai kesan ketara ke atas sifat campuran seperti kekuatan tegangan tidak langsung dan modulus kebingkasan. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Porous asphalt consists of approximately 90% of aggregates and about 65% of the aggregates used were coarse aggregates. This aggregates form the skeleton structure of the porous asphalt pavement and the aggregate mechanical properties would have a high influence on the performance of porous asphalt. In this study, five different aggregates mix proportions of geometrically cubical aggregate (GCA) and normal shape aggregates (NSA) combinations were introduced and named as mixes M0, M25, M50, M75 and M100. The selected binder content of the proposed aggregate mix combination was determined based on Cantabro and binder drainage tests. Advanced laboratory test were carried out to determine the properties of porous asphalt and this include air voids, coefficient of permeability, abrasion loss, indirect tensile strength, resilient modulus and resistance to permanent deformation. The results obtained showed that mix M100 which consists of 100% GCA performed the best in all tests. Statistical analyses such as one-way ANOVA and Duncan’s Post Hoc test results showed that introduction of GCA has a significant effect on air voids, coefficient of permeability, abrasion loss and resistance to permanent deformation of the samples. However, the results showed the introduction of GCA do not gave significant effect on indirect tensile strength and resilient modulus of the samples.
