This standard gives the requirements for two types of non-heat-shrinkable sleeving, without defined burning properties, extruded from silicone elastomer. They are distinguished principally by volatile content.
Sleeving of this type is normally available in bore sizes up to 25 mm and in a range of wall thickness between 0,1 mm and 2 mm.
National standards may select a restricted list of preferred combinations of bore diameter and wall thickness.
It has been found that for some combinations of bore diameter and wall thickness the flammability requirements contained in IEC 684-3-121 and 122 are very difficult to meet while still maintaining other properties at the required level.
Sheets 123 and 124 cover materials similar to those in sheets 121 and 122 but omit the flammability requirements, thus enabling such materials to be specified. No changes to dimensional requirements, or to electrical or physical properties other than flammability are specified.
Sleeving of this type is normally available in the following opaque colours:
Black, blue, brown, grey, green, orange, pink, red, violet, white, yellow and green/yellow. It is also available in colourless translucent form.
