ISO/IEC 134211) specifies a magnetic tape cartridge in which the 12,7 mm wide magnetic tape is recorded on 48 parallel physical tracks, recorded and read in pairs, which constitute two groups, the first recorded and read in forward direction, the second in reverse direction.
This International Standard constitutes a further development of the cartridge specified in ISO/IEC 13421 in that the number of tracks has been raised from 48 to 112, thus raising the total capacity of the cartridge accordingly. Drives for cartridges according to this International Standard may be able to read from, and write onto, cartridges according to ISO/IEC 13421.
This British Standard reproduces verbatim ISO/IEC 13962:1995 and implements it as the UK national standard.
The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical Committee IST/4, Magnetic and optical media for digital data, which has the responsibility to:
— aid enquirers to understand the text;
— present to the responsible international/European committee any enquiries on the interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed;
— monitor related international and European developments and promulgate them in the UK.
A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on request to its secretary.
