CABLE SIZING ON POWER SYSTEM WITH HARMONIC CONSIDERATION_Mohd Azuree Bin Razaly_E3_2007_875000073_NI
Selection of cable size in the non-sinusoidal conditions is only based on current imparity with considerations of Total Harmonic Distortion in cable. In commercial and institutional buildings, the wider use of power electronics components and simple non-linear loads that we can find in laboratory such as rectifiers can create many problems. This load is generally single-phase with a 3rd harmonic current. The aim of this project is to analyze and to find the relationship between the total harmonic distortion (THD), voltage and current of the cable system using Power Quality Analyzer ( FLUKE ) and to analyze the differences of capacitance arrangements as rectifier’s load as to affect the value of current and THD. Hence, we can raise a simple equation that relate to size of cable with considerations of the current and total harmonic distortion (THD). Keywords: Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), Power Factor (PF).
