QVCO ON CHIP AND ON PCB MEASUREMENT_Ganeshan Sukumaran_E3_2008_875002446_NI
A Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) is designed to tune the in-phase output signals. Quadrature VCO (QVCO) is capable of generating a controlled output response both in phase and out of phase. A Quadrature VCO leads the preference rather than VCO due to increase on chip integration and the relaxation of power hungry, highly attenuated RC-CR ladder network. Today, the evolution of electronics has brought sophisticated equipments and tools to do the testing and measurement to get the best and accurate result. The testing and measurement of the chip and packaged chip had been performed in the CEDEC Lab. The QVCO on chip testing has a power consumption of 113.40 mW with the Idd current of 63.0 mA. The QVCO on PCB measurement has a power consumption of 122.31 mW with the Idd current of 67.95 mA. No result for phase noise, tunability and output carrier power in on chip testing due to improper and insufficient probes to ground and supply the voltage to the circuit. No result for on PCB measurement too, other than power consumption, is due to some small errors on the board that have affected the high frequency output. The supply voltage for the circuit is 1.80V and at the centre frequency of 3.5 GHz._ Pengayun Kawalan Voltan (VCO) telah direka untuk melaras isyarat keluaran sama fasa. VCO Kuadratur (QVCO) pula mempunyai keupayaan untuk menjana isyarat respon keluaran kawalan sama fasa dan luar fasa. QVCO adalah lebih baik spesifikasinya jika dibandingkan dengan VCO disebabkan oleh integrasi atas cip yang membawa kepada pelemahan yang tinggi pada rangkaian tetangga RC-CR. Evolusi dalam perkembangan elektronik telah membawa kepada penggunaan peralatan dan kelengkapan yang canggih dalam membuat pengujian dan pengukuran untuk mendapat keputusan terbaik dan tepat. Pengujian dan pengukuran cip dan cip pakej telah dijalankan di Makmal CEDEC. Pengujian atas cip QVCO mendapati kuasa penggunaan ialah 113.40 mW pada arus Idd sebanyak 63.0 mA. Pengukuran atas PCB pakej QVCO mendapati kuasa penggunaan ialah 122.31 mW pada arus Idd sebanyak 67.95 mA. Tidak ada keputusan untuk hingar fasa, julat pelarasan dan kuasa pembawa keluaran setelah pengujian atas cip dijalankan adalah disebabkan penggunaan prob yang tidak mencukupi untuk membumikan dan membekal voltan pda litar. Tidak ada keputusan juga untuk pengukuran atas PCB, selain kuasa penggunaan, adalah disebabkan sedikit kesilapan kecil atas papan litar yang memberi kesan pada keluaran berfrekuensi tinggi. Voltan yang dibekalkan kepada litar ialah 1.80V dan pada frekuensi tengah 3.5 GHz.
