Kulit telur merupakan sisa yang dikeluarkan dari domestik dan industri setiap hari. Penggunaan kulit telur sebagai pengisi dalam bahan komposit sering dikaji untuk mengubah sisa ini menjadi sumber yang boleh diguna dlam industri komposit,Kajain ini penting untuk menentu kemungkinan mengguna polimer bertetulang gentian kaca dengan pengisian kulit telur dalam aplikasi penghalang api serta merangsang lebih banyak kajian dalam pengunaan kulit telur sebagai pengisian komposit. Objektif kajian ini ialah untuk menghasilkan komposit bertetulang gentian kaca dengan pengisian kulit telur dalam muatan berlainan, seterusnya memerhati profil suhu komposit tersebut semasa terdedah kepada api, akhirnya memandingkan sifat tegangan komposit antara suhu bilik dengan pasca kebakaran. Kajian ini mengguanakan serbuk kulit telur bersaiz 100 μm dan 150 μm, bergaul dengan resin epoksi dan dihasil menggunakan cara “wet hand layup”. Jenis gentian kaca yang digunakan ialah fabrik tenunan E-glass 800 gsm. Muatan kulit telur yang diguna dalam kajian ini ialah 10%, 20%, dan 30% berat resin. Separuh spesimen yang dihasil didedah api selama 1 minit dan data suhu telah direkod. Semua spesimen akan dijalankan ujian tegangan dan keputusan tersebut telah dianalisis and dibuat perbandingan. Keputusan kajian ini menunjukan penggunaan kulit telur bersaiz 100 μm and 150 μm mengurangkan tegasan tegangan dan modulus tegangan spesimen tersebut. Sebaliknya pengunaan kulit telur mengurangkan kerosakan yang disebabkan kebakaran terhadap sifat tegangan polimer bertetulang gentian kaca. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Eggshell is a waste produced domestically and industrially every day. The use of eggshell as filler in composite material if often being researched to change this waste into resources that can be used in the composites industry. This study is important to determine the possibility of using glass fibre reinforces polymer with eggshell powder as filler in fire retardant application and stimulate more research on the usage of eggshell powder as a filler for composites. The objectives of this study are to fabricate glass fibre reinforced composite with chicken eggshell powder as filler in different loading, then observe the temperature profile of the composite when it exposed to fire, and lastly compare the room temperature and post-fire tensile properties of the composite. This study is done using eggshell powder with the size of 100 μm and 150 μm, mixed with epoxy resin and fabricated using wet hand layup method. The glass fibre used is 800 gsm E-glass woven fabric. The eggshell filler loading used in this study is 10%, 20%, and 30% of resin mass. Half of the fabricated specimens are exposed to fire for 1 minute and temperature data was recorded. All specimens were then brought to tensile test and the results were analysed and compared. The result of this study shows that the use of the eggshell powder as filler of size 100 μm and 150 μm reduce the tensile stress and tensile modulus of the specimens. On the other hand, the use of eggshell powder filler reduced the damage of fire to the tensile property of glass fibre reinforced polymer.
