BS 3262-1:1989, titled "Hot-applied thermoplastic road marking materials – Specification for constituent materials and mixtures," specifies the requirements for white, yellow, and black thermoplastic road marking materials and their constituents. These materials are designed to be melted and applied hot to road surfaces using screeded or sprayed application methods, forming thin, superimposed layers for applications such as center lines, edge lines, and pedestrian crossing stripes. The standard does not apply to thermoplastic materials intended to be inset into the road surface.
