BS EN 50123-2:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the requirements for the maintenance and repair of railway rolling stock depots. The standard covers various aspects of depot maintenance and repair, including the inspection and testing of track, electrical and mechanical systems, and environmental controls. The standard outlines the requirements for the inspection and testing of the depot's track, including the inspection of rails, sleepers, and fastenings, as well as the requirements for track geometry measurements. It also specifies the requirements for the inspection and testing of the depot's electrical and mechanical systems, including lighting, ventilation, and heating, as well as the requirements for environmental controls, such as noise and vibration reduction. BS EN 50123-2:1996 is intended to ensure that railway rolling stock depots are maintained and repaired to a high standard, in order to provide a safe and efficient working environment for railway personnel and to protect the rolling stock from damage. Compliance with this standard is therefore important for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of railway rolling stock depots.
