This thesis contains designing approach of power convert circuitry for energy harvesting applications from raindrops. This power convert circuitry is focusing on capturing the low energy generated from the source and converts it to a usable electrical energy to power up low power devices applications. The circuit is using piezoelectric film Polyvinylidene flouride sensor as it transducer to scavenge vibrations from impact of raindrops to it surface and convert them to electrical energy. Polyvinylidene fluoride is used as piezoelectric material due to non-toxic characteristic and easiness to shape into sturdy panels. The transducer is connected to AC-DC circuit based on Cockcroft-Walton theorem on voltage multiplier for later use by low power devices. The effects of circuit design parameter such as the value of capacitors used, types of diodes and circuit’s configuration are analyzed. Results show that each of the parameters play significant role on the system especially the diodes and circuit’s configuration. The findings indicate that the system is a promising aspect to be explored and realized. By using 2.2 nF capacitor, 47 μF capcitor, silicon diodes and 10-stage Parallel Cockcroft-Walton configuration, this raindrop energy harvesting system is able to output 16.7 mV and stored 0.7 nJ of energy with the aid of long PVDF film which the dimension is 40 mm long, 4mm wide and 25 μm thick. The finalization of this project is the system’s printed circuit board. It is fabricated onto PCB because the connections or joints of the circuit board can be soldered, hence reduces the likelihood of build errors such as miss connections or short circuited when wires in touched. Thus, improves reliability and quality of the product.
