Pencemaran minyak disebabkan oleh tumpahan atau kebocoran yang membawa kemusnahan yang besar kepada alam sekitar. Minyak tersebut menyerap ke permukaan alam sekitar dan mencemar tanah serta mengganggu sistem air. Manakala, hidrokarbon yang terdapat dalam pencemaran tersebut bukan sahaja memberi kesan kepada bentuk tanah malah mengubah ciri-ciri fizikal yang terdapat pada tanah. Oleh itu, penyelidikan ini bertujuan untuk membuat perbandingan antara tanah yang tercemar dengan tanah yang tidak tercemar dan perubahan kebolehtelapan apabila kandungan minyak meningkat. Eksperimen yang dijalankan ke atas tanah mengandungi ciri-ciri asas tanah terutamanya kebolehtelapan. Sampel tanah didapati daripada tanah yang berlapis iaitu pasir berkelodak dan pasir liat. Sampel tanah tersebut tercemar bukan dengan cara yang semula jadi tetapi menggunakan 25%, 50% dan 75% tepu minyak diesel daripada berat kering sampel tanah. Mengikut kepada ujian yang telah dijalankan, keputusan menunjukkan kebolehtelapan ke atas tanah tercemar lebih rendah berbanding dengan kebolehtelapan ke atas tanah yang tidak tercemar. Selain itu, keputusan juga menunjukkan kebolehtelapan terhadap tiga jenis sampel tanah ini menurun secara mendadak disebabkan oleh pertambahan kadar minyak ke atas tanah yang sudah tercemar. Hasil kajian menunjukkan minyak diesel mempunyai kesan buruk ke atas ciri-ciri geoteknikal. Tanah yang sudah tercemar boleh digunakan dengan memberi manfaat kepada geoteknikal serta kelebihan kepada jurutera untuk mengitar semula tanah yang sudah tercemar. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Oil contamination due to accidental spillage or leakage lead the substantial destruction to surroundings environment. It diffuses steadily into subsurface surroundings and pollute the soil and water practice. Meanwhile, hydrocarbon on contaminated not only impact on the feature of soil but also change the physical characteristic of oil contaminated soil. Therefore, these research present the geotechnical characteristics of oil contaminated soil also an uncontaminated soil in order for differentiation and the trend of hydraulic permeability as the oil content increase. Experimental programs conducted on the analysis soil consists of fundamental properties that is permeability. The soil sample apply were organised from the layered soil that are silty soil and clayey soil. Soil specimen were unnaturally contaminated with 25%, 50% and 75% saturation of diesel oil of dry weight of the soil sample. According to the experimental had been conducted, the result present that the permeability of contaminated soil is lower than uncontaminated soil. Besides that, the result indicated that the coefficient of permeability of these three different type of soil sample reduce rapidly due to the increasing of percentage of oil rate for diesel oil contamination soil. Besides that, the result present there. The result present that the inclusion of diesel oil contains an adverse impact to the geotechnical characteristic of the soil sample. Contaminated soil sample could be applying for geotechnical benefit and these result will be advantage to an engineers in recycling or reusing the contaminated soil.
