BS 7079-C1:1989 - Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products

This standard provides guidance and a system for the visual assessment of: Rust grades of uncoated steel surfaces before surface preparation. Preparation grades after the removal of previous paint coatings or rust using various cleaning methods (e.g., blast-cleaning, hand and power tool cleaning, flame cleaning). It includes pictorial reference photographs that serve as a comparative tool for evaluating the cleanliness of steel surfaces before painting.
