Pemilihan sistem dan teknologi pembinaan yang sesuai adalah faktor utama untuk membuat projek pembinaan berjaya terutamanya bagi projek-projek berskala besar. Oleh itu, satu kajian kes untuk mengkaji semula kaedah pembinaan dan metodologi reka bentuk bagi pasca-tegangan secara berperingkat dalam tetopi tiang di tapak pembinaan KVMRT Bukit Dukung telah dijalankan. Untuk mengkaji kes itu secara terperinci, pelbagai kaedah seperti temu duga, tinjauan penarafan, pemodelan dan reka bentuk secara manual juga telah dijalankan. Temu duga dan kajian penarafan telah dijalankan dikalangan perunding dan kontraktor. Ia bertujuan untuk membandingkan penekanan yang diberikan semasa memilih kaedah pembinaan bagi jambatan oleh kedua-dua pihak. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa kontraktor memberi penekanan kepada pengurangan kos projek, manakala pemilik memberi penekanan lebih kepada mencapai tahap kualiti yang tertinggi. Kontraktor cenderung kepada langkah yang paling tersedia semasa melaksanakan kerja-kerja pembinaan mereka untuk mengelakkan peruntukan kos dan masa yang berlebihan. Kajian tentang pasca-tegangan secara berperingkat pula menunjukkan bahawa aplikasi tersebut dapat menyumbang daripada segi ekonomi jika dibandingkan dengan kaedah pembinaan yang konvensional. Dengan menggabungkan kaedah ini, ketebalan struktur rasuk boleh dikurangkan lagi tetapi menpamerkan keberkesanan struktur yang sama seperti reka bentuk konvensional lain. Ini adalah disebabkan beban secara berperingkat akan jauh lebih rendah berbanding beban kumulatif. Pada masa yang sama, daya kabel tegangan yang diperlukan untuk setiap peringkat juga lebih rendah, dan ini telah mengelakkan kamber yang berlebihan dan keretakan di kemudian hari. Namun demikian, reka bentuk dan kerja-kerja pembinaan pasca tegangan secare berperingkat adalah lebih rumit berbanding dengan reka bentuk konvensional. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Selection of suitable construction system and technology is a key factor for the success of a construction project particularly for large scale projects. Therefore, a case study to review the construction method and design methodology of multistage post-tensioning in pier cap at KVMRT Bukit Dukung construction site was conducted. In order to study the case in a detailed way, various methodologies such as peer interview, rating survey, software modelling and the manual design calculation were carried out. Peer interview and rating survey were carried out among the consultants and contractors. It aimed to compare the emphasis on selecting bridge construction method by these two different role players .The results show that contractors put more emphasis on minimizing project cost, whilst clients put more emphasis on achieving the highest level of quality. Contractors tend to select the most available measure to undertake their construction work to avoid any cost and time overruns. From the study of multistage post-tensioning design, it was found that the application could contribute in most economical construction compared to conventional construction method. With the incorporation of this method, a shallower depth of structural member can be designed to provide the similar structural effectiveness as other conventional design. This is mainly due to the design was based on the staged loading which was much lower compared to the cumulative load. At the same time, the required tendon force for each stage loading also lower, thus reduce the excess camber which may lead to cracking in later time. However, the design and the construction work need to be carried out were more complicated compared to the conventional design.
