BS EN 60704-2-1:1995 is a European standard that specifies methods for measuring the performance of household vacuum cleaners in terms of their energy efficiency, cleaning performance, and other related characteristics. The standard sets out specific procedures and requirements for testing the energy consumption, suction power, dust pick-up, and other performance parameters of vacuum cleaners.
BS EN 60704-2-1:1995 also includes guidelines for calculating the energy efficiency of vacuum cleaners, taking into account factors such as the power consumption, operating time, and the amount of dust picked up by the appliance during use. The standard is intended to provide a common basis for measuring the performance of vacuum cleaners across Europe, ensuring that consumers can make informed choices about the energy efficiency and cleaning performance of the appliances they buy.
It is worth noting that this standard has been revised and updated several times since its initial publication in 1995, with the latest version being BS EN 60312-1:2017. The newer versions of the standard include updated testing procedures and performance requirements for vacuum cleaners, reflecting advances in technology and changes in consumer expectations.
