Terdapat pelbagai faktor yang menyumbang kepada kegagalan pada talian penghantaran seperti guruh, kilat, hujan salji, kegagalan penebat dan litar pintas yang disebabkan oleh burung atau lain-lain objek luaran. Sekiranya kegagalan dapat di kenalpasti dengan tepat, krew penyelenggaraan boleh tiba di tempat berlaku kerosakan dengan cepat, dan dapat menanggalkan kegagalan tersebut mengikut masa yang ditetapkan. Oleh itu, untuk mencari kedudukan titik kegagalan dengan tepat pada talian penghantaran adalah sangat penting untuk menanggalkan kegagalan, meningkatkan reliabiliti, dan mengurangkan kebergunaan ekonomi. Kegagalan talian penghantaran boleh dikategorikan seperti kegagalan talian tunggal ke bumi, kegagalan talian ke talian, kegagalan dua talian ke bumi, dan kegagalan tiga fasa. Keadaan tidak semetri boleh digantikan dengan cara rangkaian jujukan positif, rangkaian jujukan negatif, dan rangkaian jujukan sifar. Kaedah menentukan kegagalan bedasarkan impedan adalah paling biasa digunakan secara praktikal kerana mudah dan menjimatkan. Dalam laporan ini, tiga daripada satu terminal teknik impedan untuk menentukan kegagalan dikaji untuk menunjukkan reliabiliti dan kekurangan setiap teknik. Program untuk menentukan kegagalan di bangunkan berdasarkan kaedah yang dianjurkan mengunakan program MATLAB. Program ini boleh digunakan untuk menentukan lokasi kegagalan dan ketidak jituan pada talian penghantaran menggunakan maklumat seperti impedan, sumber voltan, sumber arus, dan arus kegagalan dalam bentuk magnitud dan darjah. Teknik satu terminal boleh dihuraikan lagi untuk meningkatkan keputusan yang lebih baik dan kaedah ini juga boleh menentukan jenis talian penghantaran sederhana dan panjang. _________________________________________________________________________________________ There are many factors that causes fault on transmission lines such as storms, lightning, freezing rain, insulation breakdown and short circuits caused by birds and other external objects. If fault can be precisely located, maintenance crew can reach the faulted point quickly, and remove the fault in time. So, the precise locating of the faulted point on a transmission line is very important to remove fault, improvement of system reliability, and decrease of economic damages. Transmission faults may be categorized as single line-to-ground, line-to-line, doubled line-to-ground, and balanced three-phased. The unbalanced condition can be replaced by a symmetrically balanced positive-sequence set, a symmetrically balanced negative-sequence set, and a single-phase zero sequence set. Impedance-based fault location methods are the most commonly used in practice because of the simplicity and low cost. In this report, three of single-terminal impedance-based fault location techniques will be investigated to show the reliability and deficiency of each technique. Fault location program is developed based on the fault location method proposed using MATLAB programming language. The program can be use to locate fault location and accuracy error on the transmission line using the information including line impedance, voltage source, current source and fault current in magnitude and degree. Single-terminal techniques can be subjected to more study to improve their results and this method can determine fault location of medium and long type of transmission line.
