BS 8220-2:1995 Guide for security of buildings against crime - Part 2. Offices and shops

This part of BS 8220 has been prepared by Subcommittee B/209/10. It is a revision of BS 8220‑2:1987 which is withdrawn.
In this revision the guide has been considerably expanded to contain new sections on:
a) selecting and adapting existing premises;
b) locks and other security hardware;
c) shutters, grilles and collapsible gates;
d) access control to offices and parts of shops not open to the public;
e) merchandise protection;
f) computer centre security;
g) security staff.
Additionally the following subjects are dealt with more comprehensively:
1) planning security;
2) management aspects of security;
3) intruder detectors and alarms;
4) surveillance systems.
The other Parts of BS 8220 are concerned with the security of the following:
— Part 1: Dwellings;
— Part 3: Warehouses and distribution units.
The guide has been compiled in such a way that it can be used by architects, designers, builders, manufacturers, specialists, managers, owners and occupiers.
