Abstract This European Standard specifies the general design features, requirements and test methods for ladders. This standard applies to portable ladders. It specifies requirements for types of ladders previously covered by BS 1129 and BS 2037. In addition it is concerned with sectional ladders, mobile ladders and combination ladders not previously covered by British Standards. Ladders for special professional use, such as fire brigade ladders and mobile ladders, are not covered by this standard. This standard covers the relevant safety aspects.
