Multipleksing Bahagian Frekuensi Ortogonal (OFDM) adalah kaedah pengekodan yang digunakan secara meluas dalam komunikasi digital kerana bilangan kelebihannya yang tinggi seperti toleransi penyebaran kelewatan pelbagai arah , imuniti kepada kekerapan frekuensi pudar selektif dan kecekapan kuasa. Sisi buruk kaedah ini ialah Nisbah Kuasa Purata Puncak Tinggi (PAPR) yang tinggi dan menyebabkan penolakan yang tidak linear dan penalti kuasa yang teruk. Untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini teknik Analisis Komponen Utama (PCA) dengan Pemetaan Selektif (SLM) dicadangkan dalam karya ini. Skim modulasi yang digunakan ialah QPSK. Pada akhir proses, plot CCDF berbanding kebarangkalian PAPR dikira dan BER diterima. Prestasi perfileman PAPR dalam sistem OFDM dipengaruhi oleh bilangan pembawa dan saiz abjad. Nilai PAPR meningkat secara berkadar dengan bilangan pembawa. Di sisi lain, nilai PAPR berkurangan apabila peningkatan saiz abjad untuk sistem OFDM asal tetapi sebagai teknik SLM + PCA yang digunakan untuk sistem, PAPR mempunyai nilai yang sama untuk semua saiz abjad. Dengan keputusan ini, disimpulkan bahawa kombinasi SLM dengan PCA dapat membantu mengurangkan PAPR dalam OFDM. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a widely used encoding method in digital communication due to its high number of advantage such as multipath delay spread tolerance, immunity to the frequency selective fading channels and power efficiency. The bad side of this method is it has high Peak Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and cause significant nonlinear distortions and severe power penalty. To solve this problem Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique with Selective Mapping (SLM) are proposed in this thesis. The modulation scheme used is Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK). By the end of the process, CCDF plot versus probability of PAPR is computed and the BER is accepted. The perfomance of PAPR reduction in OFDM system is affected by number of subcarriers and size of alphabet. The value of PAPR increase proportionally with the number of subcarriers. On the other side, the value of PAPR decrease as the alphabet size increase for original OFDM system but as SLM+PCA technique applied to the system, PAPR has the same value for all alphabet size. With these results, it is concluded that the combination of SLM with PCA can help reduce PAPR in OFDM.
