Magnetic torquer based satellite attitude control of gravity gradient stabilized satellite_Eric Chieng Ching Hun_A2_2012_NI
___________________________________________________________________________________ Gravity Gradient Stabilized Satellite is a type of satellite that uses merely gravity gradient stabilized method to stabilize itself. It is a type of passive control system which uses the geometry of satellite to perform stabilization. However, the stabilized satellite cannot achieve fully 3-axis stabilization as one of the axes is un-stabilized. Various attitude control system had been considered to stabilize the axis with condition the satellite is orbiting around Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Magnetic torquers become a good choice because of the advantage it provides. Magnetic torquer is placed on the 3-axis of the satellite to provide 3-axis control to stabilize the satellite. Therefore, various mathematical modelling had been done to analyse the geomagnetic field, attitude performance, magnetic dipole moment and control torque. Comparison between the different inclinations are been done in order to identify the inclination which provide more stability to the satellite. The simulation is run on SIMULINK®, computing software which provides solution for flow model building.
