Terdapat pelbagai kaedah peralihan antara dua lapis substrat panduan gelombang yang telah diperkenalkan sebelum ini. Untuk peralihan antara multilayer, kaedah lubang alur merupakan kaedah yang sangat praktikal kerana mudah dalam proses pembuatan. Tujuan utama dalam projek ini adalah mengkaji dengan lebih mendalam tentang saiz yang optimum dan bentuk pada kedudukan yang betul bagi lubang alur untuk menghasilkan peralihan yang bagus antara dua lapis substrat panduan gelombang di frekuensi 9 GHz. Lubang alur telah dijadikan sebagai jendela untuk peralihan antara dua lapis substrate panduan. Saiz lubang alur memberi kesan kepada tindak balas return loss dan insertion loss. Kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan bagaimana kedudukan yang berbeza serta pelbagai saiz memberi kesan kepada peralihan gelombang dari SIW kepada SIW. Ciri-ciri serta respons kaedah pautan menerusi lubang alur telah dikaji dalam bentuk simulasi dan analisis. Selain itu, dua teknik telah diaplikasikan dalam projek ini. Aplikasi ini akan dibincangkan dengan terperinci berdasarkan kualiti produk dan keputusan dari setiap teknik. Pada peringkat kajian dan simulasi penyelidikan banyak tertumpu kepada memahami bagaimana pelbagai posisi dan saiz lubang alur dalam mempengaruhi pautan gelombang antara kedua-dua lapis. Dan pada peringkat pembuatan produk, penyelidikan tertumpu dalam mencari penyelesaian yang terbaik bagi menggabungkan kedua–dua lapis supaya tidak berlaku kehilangan tenaga serta mengurangkan kos pembuatan. Di akhir projek ini, salah satu teknik yang berkesan telah dikenal pasti untuk menggabungkan dua lapis SIW ini dan dibincangkan dengan terperinci. Akhir sekali, langkah dalam menghasilkan produk yang lebih baik pada masa depan dicadangkan dalam projek ini. ______________________________________________________________________________________ There are different methods of the transition between two layers of Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) that has been proposed before. For the multilayer transition, the coupling through slot have always used nowadays. The main purpose of this project is to research in detail about the optimum size and shape at exact position for the effective slot coupling between two layers of SIW waveguide at the frequency of 9 GHz. The slot is acts as a window for the transition between the two layers of SIW waveguide. The size of the window will affect the return loss and insertion loss. This project will discuss how the size and position of the window will affect the transition between the two layers of SIW waveguide. The characteristics of the slot coupling from the two layers of SIW waveguide was studied in terms of the layout design and simulation. Besides, two design techniques also implemented in this project. The implementation of these techniques will be discussed in detailed based on the quality of the prototypes and result for each technique. At the design and simulation stage, research was conducted to understand how the positions of the slot and the different size of slot affected the transition between two layers of SIW waveguide. At the fabrication stage, the research is conducted to find a good solution to coupling between the two layers of SIW waveguide in order to avoid any loss and produce low cost maintenance. At the end of the project, one effective technique is determined as implementation of coupling between two layers of SIW waveguide. The characteristics of the output of the simulation and fabrication result were explained in detail. Finally, the steps on how the design could be improved for future project were proposed.
