Projek ini membentangkan kajian mengenai janakuasa tenaga suria untuk permintaan tenaga di Kampus Kejuruteraan USM. Penyelidikan mengenai janakuasa tenaga suria memerlukan satu strategi yang berkesan dan modus operandi bersistematik untuk mencapai hasil prestasi yang maksimum. Sebaliknya, jumlah angka yang tepat bagi panel suria yang dipasang tidak dapat membekalkan keperluan tenaga elektrik yang mencukupi untuk permintaan tenaga di Kampus Kejuruteraan USM dan menyediakan kos minimum pemasangan. Oleh itu, prestasi sistem tatasusunan fotovoltaik bergantung pada faktor-faktor persekitaran seperti sinaran matahari dan keadaan cuaca untuk mengetahui penjanaan tenaga bagi sel suria yang optimum dan seterusnya menilai jumlah tepat untuk panel suria. Salah satu kelebihan daripada penyambungan kuasa utiliti grid kepada sistem fotovoltaik adalah satu sokongan bekalan kuasa. Hal ini kerana bekalan elektrik akan terganggu jika tatasusunan fotovoltaik tidak dapat menjana kuasa keluaran untuk permintaan beban. Pengunaan tenaga elektrik dikalangan pengguna di Kampus Kejuruteraan USM ialah 59000000 Wh/hari selepas menambah kehilangan kuasa. Keputusan akhir kajian ini ialah sebanyak 99588 panel suria diperlukan untuk membekalkan tenaga elektrik dan kawasan pemasangan untuk janakuasa tenaga suria di Kampus Kejuruteraan USM ialah 60101.2 m2 disebabkan kawasan terhad. Jumlah kos awal pemasangan janakuasa tenaga suria ialah RM 842,379,141.20. Jadi, TNB mesti membekalkan tenaga elektrik selebihnya untuk permintaan tenaga kampus sebanyak 20930775 Wh/hari _____________________________________________________________________________________ This project presents the study of solar power plant for energy demand in USM Engineering Campus. The research of solar power plant needs an effective strategy and systematic modus operandi to achieve the maximum performance result. Otherwise, the right number of solar panel installed cannot cater sufficient electrical energy to energy demand in USM Engineering Campus and provide minimal cost of installation. Thus, the performance of a photovoltaic array system depend on the environmental factors such as solar radiation and weather condition for finding out the optimum of generating energy of solar cell and then sizing the right number of solar panel. One of the advantages of connecting utility power grid to the PV system is as a back-up power supply. This is because electrical supply will be interrupted if PV array cannot generate output power to the load demand. Electrical energy usage among user in USM Engineering Campus is 59000000 Wh/day after adding power losses. Moreover, the average daily solar radiation at campus environment is 584.29 Wh/day. The final result of this research are 99588 solar panels needed to cater the electrical supply to the whole campus and area of installation the solar power plant for USM Engineering Campus is 60101.2 m2 due to restricted area in USM Engineering Campus. The total initial cost of installing the solar power plant is MYR 842,379,141.20. Thus, TNB must supply the balanced electrical energy needed for campus’s energy demand which is about 20930775 Wh/day.
