Study on the effect of cloud and wind towards the intensity and spectrum of scintillation_Ng Peng Tiong_E3_2007_875002281_NI
This project examines the effects of wind and cloud presence on the tropospheric scintillation. Study on the tropospheric scintillation is based on the propagation data from Superbird C satellite link that has been performed at University Sains Malaysia (USM) with frequency 12.255 GHz with an elevation angle of 40.1o. The software, SPSS (Statistical Package of the Social Sciences) and Microsoft Excel are used for analysis the data, study on the cumulative distribution for the long term tropospheric scintillation and find the effect of the wind and cloud toward the scintillation. The result show that cumulative distribution for the long term tropospheric scintillation is quite match with model that proposed by Karasawa and Van der Kamp as expected from the beginning of the study. Correlation between scintillation and wind speed is negligible weak ,and between cloud is high. Thus, the effect of wind and cloud on the scintillation is consider well observed and analyzed as it quite match with the theoretical and others practical result. For the conclusion, with acceptable and desirable result, it proved that the study on the scintillation effect is a great success.
