Prinsip asas bagi robot pemadam api ialah peka terhadap cahaya dan seterusnya bergerak ke arah punca cahaya, Penciptaan ini sangat pennting kerana ia dapat mengambil alih peranan ahli bomba yang senantiasa berhadapan dengan situasi yang penuh dengan cabaran dan bahaya. Selain prinsip asas ini, robot ini juga mempunyai beberapa fungsi-fungsi tambahan seperti mengesan api berpandukan suhu serta berkeupayaan untuk memegang alat pemadam api. Dalam projek ini, sebuah mesin yang berkemampuan menaik tangga serta sensitif kepada cahaya telahpun direka. Dengan ini, robot ini dapat beroperasi di bangunan yang bertingkat. Robot ini juga dapat bergerak dengan kelajuan yang berbeza; contohnya, makin jauh antara jarak robot dengan punca cahaya, maka makin pantasnya robot itu bergerak dan bergerak dengan makin perlahan ketika robot itu dekat dengan punca cahaya. Akhirnya, robot itu berhenti gerakannya di depan punca cahaya. Untuk menambahbaikan operasi robot tersebut, pengawal berkadar telah digunakan. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Many fire fighting robots have a common basic operation, which is the ability to follow and move towards light sources. They are important because they can take over the role of human fire fighters in hazardous environment. Apart from having this basic operation, some of them also have additional functions, such as the ability to detect the fire based on the ambient temperature or to hold the fire extinguishers. In this project, a light following robot with stair climbing ability is designed. With this extra function, it may be able to operate in multi-storey building. The robot is also configured to move with different speeds; i.e. it moves towards the light source faster when it is far from it, and slows down when it comes closer to it. Finally, it stops within a certain distance from the light source. To increase the performance, an appropriate controller for the robot is also developed, and in this project, it is found that the most suitable one is a simple proportional controller.
