Bunyi adalah bunyi yang berlebihan yang boleh menganggu dan memudaratkan kepada aktiviti atau keseimbangan kehidupan manusia. Sumber bunyi disebabkan oleh jentera dan pengangkutan sistem, kenderaan motor, kapal terbang, dan kereta api malahan juga manusia membuat bising sepanjang masa. Kajian ini dijalankan di Nibong Tebal di mana pendedahan bunyi bising telah menjadi mengganggu dan membimbangkan kepada masyarakat kediaman. Ia mengukur intensiti bunyi pada tiga sumber utama, iaitu di sepanjang jalan utama dari Taman Ilmu ke arah pintu masuk utama USM, Taman Pekaka dan Taman Sempadan ,Nibong Tebal. Kerja-kerja ini termasuk mengukur tahap gangguan bunyi di lokasi terpilih menggunakan meter bunyi dipasang pada Telefon Pintar Android. Kajian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh bunyi daripada pelbagai sumber dan kesan terhadap penduduk tempatan di kawasan itu. Ia menerokai keupayaan analisis ruang GIS dan kemungkinan memperoleh gangguan bunyi peta menggunakan teknik interpolasi spatial. Hasil peta bunyi adalah untuk mengukur atau menilai tahap bunyi bising di kawasan yang luas dan dalam meramalkan sumber bunyi. Ramalan membolehkan kami menilai dan berkomunikasi perubahan kepada kesan bunyi dan membentuk bahagian penting dalam lalu lintas jalan raya kajian impak alam sekitar. Dari kajian ini, skor tertinggi gangguan bunyi adalah 81.60 dB (A) direkodkan di Taman Pekaka, dan yang paling rendah ialah di Taman Ilmu dengan 72.27 dB. Sebaliknya, kekuatan gangguan bunyi adalah lebih rendah pada hujung minggu berbanding hari minggu mempunyai nilai purata tertinggi masing-masing 77.30 dB (A) dan 81.01 dB (A). Beberapa langkah-langkah termasuk dalam kajian ini untuk mengurangkan gangguan bunyi kepada masyarakat kediaman di kawasan Nibong Tebal. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Noise is excessive sound which may be detrimental to the activity or balance of human life. The most external sound source is caused by machinery and transportation systems, motor vehicles, airplanes, and trains. People too make noise all the time. This study was conducted in Nibong Tebal where noise exposure has been a nuisance and disturbing to the residential community. It measures the noise intensity at three main sources, i.e. along the main road from Taman Ilmu towards USM main entrance, Taman Pekaka and Taman Sempadan, Nibong Tebal. The work includes measuring the noise disturbance level at selected locations using noise meter installed on Android Smartphone. The study attempts to examine the influence of noise from various sources and impact towards local residents in the area. It explores the spatial analytical capability of GIS and the feasibility of deriving noise disturbance map using spatial interpolation technique. The derived noise map is essential in assessing noise levels over a wide area and in predicting the sources the noise. Prediction enables us to assess and communicate changes to the noise impact and forms a key part of road traffic noise environmental impact study. From the study, the highest average noise disturbance is 81.60 dB recorded at the Taman Pekaka, and the lowest is at Taman Ilmu with 72.27 dB. Contrariwise, the noise disturbance strength is lower during weekends as compared to weekday having highest average value of 77.30 dB (A) and 81.01 dB (A) respectively. Some counter measures measure is included in this study to minimize noise disturbance to the residential community in Nibong Tebal area.
