Penyambung lebihan arus merupakan alat perlindungan yang penting dalam sistem perlindungan di dalam sistem kuasa. Ia dapat menghilangkan arus yang mempunyai masalah dengan cepat dan ia juga dapat diselaraskan dengan menggunakan pemutus litar. Beban arus yang maksimum dalam peralatan dapat bertahan dalam keadaan penggunaan yang berterusan, namun ia mungkin menghadapi kesalahan dan pelbagai gangguan dan akan menyebabkan peralatan tersebut mempunyai lebihan arus yang seterusnya membuatkan peralatan tersebut gagal untuk berfungsi. Kepelbagaian beban juga akan mempengaruhi bentuk gelombang sinusoidal, yang keluar dari herotan harmonik .Kertas ini adalah bertujuan untuk mengkaji kesan harmoni semasa pada penggantian lebihan arus. Tindak balas penggantian lebihan arus dianalisis melalui ujikaji makmal. Bagi mendapatkan hasil, penyelarasan harmoni beban arus bukan linear dalam jumlah yang berbeza dilakukan semasa ujikaji makmal dibuat. Kesimpulannya, apabila terdapat kesilapan dalam sistem, ia akan menyebabkan kerosakan pada penggantian lebihan arus kerana sistem tersebut akan berfungsi pada urutan yang salah. Semakin tinggi harmoni, semakin tinggi arus beban yang diputuskan. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Overcurrent relay is an important protective device for protection in power system. It can clear the large fault current quickly and easily coordinate with circuit breaker. The maximum load current that an equipment can endure during continuous operation may also have a fault and various disturbance which led to overcurrent and malfunction equipment. The variety of loads also will influence the sinusoidal waveform, which comes out from harmonic distortion. This paper investigated the effects of current harmonic on overcurrent relay. The performance of overcurrent relay is analysed with laboratory experiment. The laboratory experiment that consists of non-linear load current which have different total harmonic distortion to obtain a result. It can be concluded that a relay malfunction will occur and they will trip in a wrong sequence when affected by harmonic. The higher value of total harmonic distortion, the tripping load current also getting higher.
