Pembangunan loji janakuasa arang batu bagi menghasilkan tenaga elektrik telah menggundang kepada pelepasan gas asid ke atmosfera. Contoh gas asid seperti karbon dioksida dan hidrogen sulfida yang bersifat toksik dan menghakis terhadap persekitaran. Disamping itu, kesan rumah hijau daripada CO2 memberi kesan terhadap perubahan iklim dengan peningkatan suhu global. Bagi mengatasi masalah ini, penangkapan karbon dan teknologi penyimpanan (CCS) dengan penyerapan amina telah disambungkan selepas pembakaran bagi bertujuan mengelakkan pelepasan bebas gas asid. Kajian ini telah dijalankan dengan menggunakan perisisan Aspen Plus. Keadaan optimum untuk MEA tunggal, MDEA tunggal dan campuran MEA dan MDEA pada kadar aliran, suhu dan tekanan dalam penyerapan adalah pada 100kg/jam, 30°C dan 1 atm. Manakala, kadar pemulihan amina untuk MEA tunggal, MDEA tunggal dan campuran MEA dan MDEA telah dicapai pada tekanan 2 atm dan tenaga 26kW bagi kedua-dua amina tunggal dan 10 kW bagi campuran amina. Peningkatan kadar aliran amina, tekanan, tenaga pendidih dan penurunan suhu amina meningkatkan kecekapan kolum. Seterusnya, analisis tenaga peroleh 29.22kW, 25.75kW dan 10kW bagi MEA tunggal, MDEA tunggal dan campuran MEA dan MDEA. Melalui kajian ini, campuran amina terbukti adalah amina pelarut terbaik untuk digunakan kerana ia mempunyai kecekapan penyingkiran yang tinggi, pemulihan amina yang tinggi dan penalti tenaga yang rendah. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Development of coal-fired power plant to produce electricity has lead to the emission of acid gas to the atmosphere. For example, acid gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide which are toxic and corrosive for environment. In addition, greenhouse gas such as CO2 has effect been reported to the climate change by increasing the global temperature. To overcome, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology in post-combustion with amine absorption is introduced to mitigate the emission of acid gases. This study was carried out by using Aspen Plus software in steady state conditions. The optimum conditions for single MEA, MDEA and mixture of MEA and MDEA flowrate, temperature and pressure in the absorber at 100kg/hr, 30°C and 1 atm. While, amine recovery rate for single MEA, MDEA and mixture of MEA and MDEA were achieved at column pressure of 2 atm and reboiler duty 26kW for both of single amine and 10 kW for mixture amine. Increased of lean amine flowrate, pressure reboiler duty and decreased lean amine temperature increased the efficiency of the column. Next, energy analysis is implemented in the stripping column resulted 29.22kW, 25.75kW and 10kW of single MEA, MDEA and mixture of MEA and MDEA. Through this study, mixture amine is proven is the best amine solvent to use as it has high removal efficiency, high amine recovery and minimize the energy penalty.
