Disertasi ini mempersembahkan kajian makmal terhadap parameter yang mempengaruhi kekuatan mampatan terhadap prisma bata tanah liat bakar iaitu; nisbah kelansingan, ketebalan sambungan mortar, jenis mortar dan tempoh pengawetan. Bata kejuruteraan jenis SK-30 telah dipilih sebagai bahan utama kajian. Hasil keputusan menunjukkan perbezaan parameter memberikan kesan yang nyata terhadap kekuatan mampatan prisma bata. Kesan nisbah kelansingan menunjukkan, kekuatan mampatan prisma bata berkurang apabila ketinggian prisma meningkat daripada 2 hingga 3.3, dan prisma bata yang mempunyai nisbah kelansingan, h/t =2 memberikan nilai kekuatan mampatan yang paling tinggi. Ketebalan ikatan prisma bata 10 mm memberikan nilai rintangan terhadap kekuatan mampatan yang tinggi berbanding ketebalan ikatan 15 mm. Nisbah campuran mortar jenis (i) memberikan nilai kekuatan mampatan yang paling tinggi. Kekuatan mampatan prisma bata meningkat dengan masa daripada hari ke 14 hingga hari ke 28. Antara faktor lain yang mempengaruhi kekuatan mampatan prisma bata ialah kadar serapan awalan bata. Hasil keputusan menunjukkan nilai kadar serapan awalan unit bata ialah 4.31 g/min.30mm2. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This dissertation presents the research of a laboratory investigation on parameters that affecting compressive strength of clay fired brick masonry prisms namely; slenderness ratio, joint of mortar thickness, type of mortar and curing period. Engineering brick type SK-30 has been chosen as a sample on this project. The results show, that the different parameters give a significant effect on compressive strength of masonry prisms. The effect of slenderness ratio shown, that the strength of masonry prisms reduce as the height of prisms increased from 2 to 3.3 and brick prisms with slenderness ratio, h/t = 2 give the higher strength on masonry prisms. The joint of mortar thickness 10 mm has a greater value of resistance on compressive strength rather than 15 mm thickness. The proportion of mortar mix type (i) give a higher value on compressive strength. The strength of masonry prisms gain with time from 14 days to 28 days. Another factors that affecting the compressive strength of mortar is initial rate of absorption on brick units. The results show initial rate of absorption on brick unit is 4.31 g/min.30mm2.
