This study presents the fragility curve for steel and concrete frame structures. The fragility curves in this study were developed due to the different type of structural material, height and the ground motion records. The 3- and 6-storey frame structures with 3 m in height for each storey is designed based on the Eurocode(s). In order to perform the Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA), 7 records of ground motion for each set Near Field (NF) and Far Field (FF) have been used in the study. The SAP 2000 software was used as a main tool to carry out the analysis for the IDA curve. Based on the IDA curve, five levels of performance level that stated by FEMA-273, which are; (i) Operational Phase (OP); (ii) Immediate Occupancy (IO); (iii) Damage Control (DC); (iv) Life Safety (LS); and (v) Collapse Prevention (CP) will be used as a main guideline to observe the structure’s performance. For the first outcome in this study, the 3-storey steel frame structure is stiffer compared to the 3-storey concrete frame that based on NF and FF records. Meanwhile, the results are a bit contrary for 6-storey case. It shows that, the steel frame structure is more suitable for low-rise structure comparable to mid-rise frames. However, it is depends on the construction method, beam and column sizing, ground motion records, etc. From the fragility curve results, probability of reach or exceed a specified damage state can be determined. Based on the NF and FF records, the higher probability of reaching OP level occurr at FF records, but at CP level is otherwise. In terms of the structural material, concrete give a higher probability at OP level for both ground records. Otherwise, at the CP level, steel frame produce maximum probability of damage with the NF records, on the other hand, concrete frame recorded the maximum probability for FF records.
