Abstract BS EN 60896-2:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the requirements for valve regulated lead-acid batteries used for stationary applications such as backup power supplies, telecommunications equipment, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). This standard covers batteries with a nominal voltage of 12 V or more, and specifies the requirements for construction, performance, and testing of the batteries. It also provides guidance on the maintenance and handling of the batteries. The requirements specified in this standard are intended to ensure that the batteries have the necessary performance and safety characteristics for their intended applications.
